Jazz Bass pickups

I have a fender jazz bass with a maple fretboard. It currently has the stock american vintage pickups in it. i'm considering getting new pickups and i'm not totally sure what to get. i'm looking for something with some good highs and mids. i really like the sound of old rics like on early rush. i'm thinking that the hot stacks would be best. I was wondering if this would be a good choice or if maybe anyone has any other suggestions that would be great, thanks.

I have a fender jazz with a hot stack in the bridge and classic stack in the neck. I also did a push pull for series and parallel of the two (think s-1, but i did it before they had that). This Jazz sounds amazing with this setup. I have used it for touring over my stingray and other jazz (which has 2 quarter l/bs which i think are overrated). Anyway, the 2 different versions of the stacks compliment eachother so well. The bridge gets that nice ric-esque sound and can easily do jaco. The neck sounds like a cross between a big precision bass and a normal jazz neck. let me know what you do.

I'd go for the Quarter Pounders (They're my best sellers!) or the Vintage set for the great tone you hear on so many 60's and 70's soul and r&b recordings....not to mention Noel Redding's playing with Jimi Hendrix.

the quarter pounds to me just sound sort of generic rock. plus the stacks are hum cancelling. :banana:

Yeah...but most Jazz Bass players mix the two pickups together and then they're humcancelling...

Thanks for the replies but I think that I'll go with the Hot Stacks if anything. I have come to this conclusion after doing the tone comparision thing because the Quarter Pounders are seriously lacking in mids which is what I'm definitely not looking for because, once again, i'm looking for something with strong mids and highs. Also the same thing with the Vintage and classic stacks(just not as lacking as the quarter pounders). And Mykel, I'm not really going to for the bassy sound from the neck pickup because i actually use the it more, so if i do get new pickups i'd be focusing the tone i'm looking for on that one. You were saying though that you can get a nice ric-esque sound from your bridge pickup, which is a hot stack, what would you think about it in the neck? Does anyone else have any suggestions? Also, what about just the hots(not stacked)?

I used to have a hot for jazz years ago and i remember it to be quite what you are looking for.

Cool. So I've decided that I'll get the Hots instead of the Hot Stacks(mainly because they're more expensive). I just got a new job so a soon as I've made some more money I'll buy them. Then after I've had the chance to use them I'll let you guys know what I think. Thanks again
