Jazz Bass Plus Pick Up Replacement

I have a early 90's Jazz Bass Plus. It is the one with out a pickguard and with the Lace Sensor pickups in it.

I have never liked the sound and want to replace the pickups and electronics now. The Lace Sensors (which in 92 I was so excited about) and the Kubricki preamp (also exciting in 92) are so unappealing to me now that I really do not play it at all. This is my only Jazz bass and I would like to have a more traditional 70's type jazz sound.

Here is the rub. The Neck and Bridge pick up are the same size (approx .73" x 3.656")

So, I want to replace the pickups and electronics with something that will provide a nice old fashioned jazz sound. In looking at the Antiquities I am concerned about sizing.

Does anyone have any experience replacing pick ups in this type of bass? I only want to do this if I can pull it off without altering the bass at all.

Any experienced info would be greatly appreciated.

Jim

that size should work for you right?

a vintage neck with a hot neck in the bridge would be a cool option if you didnt want to use two vintage neck pups

is the antiquity dimentions. looks like the neck should fit ok, so two neck pups might work for ya

you wont get humcancelling with two neck pups on which may or may not matter to you. as far as the preamp there are lots of options out there. i personally really like the stc 3m3

Jeremy,

So, Two neck pickups would work. Is there a neck pick up that is wound the opposite way so I could get humcancelling?
