Jazz neck in bridge for jazz guitar?

Godspeed 6

Hi all! Recently bought a dangelico chambered solid body. Jazz in neck, and P92 in bridge. Want a smooth voiced jazzy guitar. Put on roundwounds, p92 sucks for this application. Bright and kinda harsh. Of course jazz is beautiful and smooth in neck, do they remain smooth in bridge? I know less output, my goal is blended and smooth. Thanks in advance guys. Godspeed!

The Jazz pickup name should be in the museum of "Bad Product Names"

It is anything BUT a great Jazz pickup. YMMV depending on the Jazz tone you want, and the guitar you have.

Seths if tone scaling from the amp on a dark guitar.

A2P's if the guitar is naturally bright.

Since you are running a Jazz in the neck, why not pair it up with the Jazz bridge pickup?

My thought exactly. A Jazz N in the bridge position is not going to have the fullness a Jazz N in the neck position has. As you move away from the bridge the string is swinging (vibrating) more, think of a jump rope. Most Jazz guys I know get most of their work done while the neck position unless they are fusion guys. And let's face it fusion guys are rock guys with fancier chords. If you are getting a great jazz tone in the neck I would be happy with that and roll with it.

The Jazz Bridge, despite being one of the least-known pickups SD make, is great. It should go without saying that if you like the Jazz Neck and want something similar for the bridge then the Jazz Bridge is the way to go. Don't worry about it sounding thinner; the Bridge model is made to compensate for that. If you do end up finding the Jazz Bridge is too bright, no problem; simply buy an A2 magnet and swap that in, and now you've got an Alnico II Pro Bridge.

the jazz bridge is bright compared to other bridge buckers, but compared to a p92 (i assume it's the fralin) it will be fuller sounding for sure. Still, the jazz bridge is not the smoothest sounding bridge humbucker out there, so if that's what you want, i'd check some other stuff out first.

If you want it smooth, Alnico 2 Pro, or Jazz bridge with an A2 would solve that. Jazz pickups as-is have some top-end to them.
