Jazzmaster Pickup Dimensions Question

I'll bet that once in a while somebody wonders whether Jazzmaster pickups, skinny as they are, are skinny enough to slide in under the strings without having to cut any holes.

Does anyone know anything about this? Does anyone have a number for how skinny the pickups are?

I'd need to take a guitar apart to measure, but I imagine some guitars might slot them comfortably between the strings and body. Sentell pickups makes several models designed to be "no-route" too.
