JB, '78 Thru Bray 4550 Plexi Head

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share this clip of 2 popular Duncans thru a Bray 4550 plexi head.

This particular amp has the Plus mode wired up for a Mick Mars type (first section). First half is a Les Paul w/ Duncan JB-bridge (bridge) and a PRS McCarty (neck). Second half is a Strat w/ a Duncan '78.

I'd forgotten how effective a JB can be.

Enjoy!

That sounds amazing. I have always liked what I heard from your amps. Unfortunately I'll probably never be able to afford one :(

I was looking at your JTM45 clone and heard this clip last time I was on your website. It sounds killer.

Mucho appreciato.

That was an interesting one, in that Jeff wanted both a somewhat true JTM45 sound, as well as a screaming Eddie type thing, a bit of a challenge, since there are some opposing forces in what makes those two sounds happen, the biggest being the output transformer.

I ended up going with a custom OT that was more toward a JTM45, voiced the amp to do a decent version of both, then used some bright and gainy KT66s for the added top end needed on the overdrive to pull it out of bluesville when pushed. That was a fun build, for sure. Thank you for checking it out. :cool2:
