JB compared to the duncan distortion?

Re: JB compared to the duncan distortion?

Hey Bud,

Check out any Dokken studio release or "Beast from the East." That tone is an SD Distortion.

Re: JB compared to the duncan distortion?

Dist has more output and a little more sizzle on the highs. Also more bass. IT is a hot rodded JB. Compare Dokken to jake E lee in ozzy

Re: JB compared to the duncan distortion?

The tone of the Seymour Duncan Distortion Humbucker is aggressive .

The ceramic magnet induces articulate highs (also mids) and punchy low-grinding bass. All notes 'sing' very well aided by raw aggresive punch.

While one may salivate at these qualities, keep in mind this pickup is not going to turn your amp to mush. It can do clean guitar well, too.

The Distortion is awesome paired with high-gain and a rosewood fretboard.
The rosewood makes notes warm while the pickups' highs remain, well...high.
And played through high gain it's as if the pickup punctures the sound barrier and all you hear is screaming !

I believe it is true. The coils are the same.

Re: JB compared to the duncan distortion?

There is a way to make a milder Distortion with using a smaller ceramic magnet like our of the Custom. This should give Distortion light or a JBD (JazzBluesDistortion).
I have have now a JB with a A8 in my alder/maple Strat. Its a JB with more fullness. Next time i put the small ceramic into it. Tell ya folks.
