JB/Custom hybrid vs JB/Full Shred hybrid

Does anybody have experience with both? A part of me wants to buy them all and try them all, but it might be easier to start off with the basics and go from there.

As far as I know, the Custom 5 and Full Shred are the same pickup except that the FS has hex screws. I've never played a Full Shred, but in hearing clips and watching videos it does something to the attack and mids/high end that I seem to like. I'd imagine the split sound of the pickup would be better if using the Custom due to the slug poles and being 7k? I've played the Custom 5 before and did enjoy the split sound. I have no idea how the Full Shred split sound with it's hex screws would sound in comparison though?

If the high end of the JB/FS was a bit harsh or trebly, I thought that I could try a roughcast A5 to tame that a bit. Whatever hybrid I end up choosing, I want to use some type of A5 magnet.

Does anyone have experience with both of these pickups, in terms of how they differ from each other? It seems like they would both be good pickups but in different ways.

I have made some distortion/ full shred hybrids which are the same coils as the jb/ custom. I used the double ceramic in it rather than the A5 because I love the Full shred with a ceramic.

It's a good mix of the 2 coils but the hybrid adds its own thing, a bit of texture or something to the sound. It's definitely my favorite non active pickup, followed by the 500/498t hybrid.

Thanks for your reply. I can imagine liking either one a lot, I can imagine liking the custom for rhythms and the JB for leads, and it'd be cool to combine both of those into one. Might be worth getting a ceramic magnet to try just incase I like it more.

Also, can the mods please remove the post that's spamming YT links that have nothing to do with my topic (a quick search shows he does it on other topics as well, no discussion just YT links).

I've got a Custom with a bum coil. I'm going to use the good coil a JB coil, if I'm lucky, I'll be able to make it double screw. For magnets I'm thinking UOA5, A5, regular ceramic or even A2.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

I can't remember which coil is bad on the Custom. I'm hoping that it's the slug coil.
I get 7.5 between the black and white and nothing between the green and red.
