JB, good for glam rock ??

Well, the oldies here probably know the kind of 80's glam rock, and I was wondering if the JB would be able to pull some of that sound off?

The reason why I ask was because I was listening to a song called "Dawn Of The Dead", by a band called Murderdolls, and normally I don't listen to that kind of stuff, BUT, it's fun music, and gets me in a good mood, so it would be cool to play some stuff like it myself, and the solos/leads are not uber-shred solos, but melodic and sound cool, but basically I like the party vibe of the music.

A very large percentage of the hair rock and hair metal you hear from the 80s was recorded with JBs in the bridges of superstrats through marshalls. So yes, the JB will do it!

Sune, I see one of your choices is the DD neck also. The DD neck is overlooked by most people but, its a killer sounding pickup in the neck!!!! I say, DD neck and bridge!!
Or the DD bridge and Jazz.

Well, I think I will need the Jazz for some cleaner sounds, in case I want to play something cleaner, or in case someone would want me to play something with them in school etc.. (we have some music projects). But I don't know, I guess I could always loan one of the school's strat's for that..

No clean channel means you'll need a lower-output pickup so you can roll down the volume and clean yourself up a little bit...so yeah, JB/Jazz is probably a good place to start...i also like the neck '59 but some people say it's too bassy...

Well, I have decided to keep the JB at least as planned, I'm just kinda torn between the jazz neck and full shred neck. I'm leaning towards the latter but it depends on some different things, one thing is whether he has already installed the pickups or not, or if he's already ordered them (I don't know if he has new pickups laying around at home). If either of those two is the case, then It'll be JB/Jazz for sure, until that's clarified, the choice in the neck spot is between the jazz and full shred.

Get the jazz. That and the full shred are pretty similar. Except the full shred might be way too bright.

I read an Guitar world mag I think it was a 1985-86 issue ther was an interview with Vivan Campbell ( he was in Whitesnake then)..He had just got his BLAZE guitar ..Which was a prototype for th KRAMER NIGHSWAN.. That guitar had a JB FULL SHRED..OH YES AND IT Was Mahogany with a birfseye maple neck and ebony fret board..It was Vivan ... who first got me interested in Duncans...

So he actually had a JB in the bridge and a Full Shred in the neck?? Cool, how did it sound?? I like that it's the same woods also.

not exactly he had a jb in bridge and full shred in the middle....seee my avtar that is a Nightswan,,, I heard that Vivan was one of the first gutiarist to use the Full shred

yes i guess so...but since u want versatile axe i would say go fo the JAZZ.. Vivan was in to alot of shredding in those days unlike what he paysin DeF Leppard...
