jb in neck position

I wanted to know if the jb is a decent neck pickup? I have never seen one used in that position and maybe there is a reason for that. I like the sh2 also. What neck pickups do the experts like? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: jb in neck position

there are some dudes that dig the JB in the neck, especially wired in parallel.

really depends on what you're looking for.

Re: jb in neck position

the only way i could see it working is split or parallel in the neck slot. waaaaaay to hot in series(normal) mode for a neck pup.... unless maybe you're running a 20k bridge pickup... maybe.

Yup, I've got one wired parallel in the neck with a JB wired in series in the bridge. Great pairing, IMO. The JB in parallel has just the right amount of output for me to get some nice neck tones, clean or dirty.

Is it hard to wire in parallel? I don't know how its done. Thanks for the feedback

It would definitely be interesting in parallel in the neck. I've always loved the lead tones of the JB.

I was told that the demon is great in the neck position. Would it have to be wired parallel?

Re: jb in neck position

I use an 80's JB in the neck of my Les Paul. It flat out rips. FWIW, it does clean up fairly well too.

Re: jb in neck position

I use a JB at the neck of my custom dinky. Wails like a banshee, really creamy and powerful but without getting muddy or losing clarity. It cleans up just fine IME, though I rarely use it by itself for clean work.

I also have mine wired for splitting when I want it, and TBH I don´t think 90% of the people listening could tell whether it´s a split JB or a vintage single coil.

By far my favorite neck pickup.
