JB/Jazz Clip

Here's a clip of the guy who won the Guitar Idol 2009 competition. He plays an Ibanez S2020XAV fitted with a JB/Jazz pickup combination. I'm really blown away by his tone. I would have thought he was playing a CC in the bridge given how smooth it sounds.

It's not surprising to me. They are great pickups. The JB can really sing for leads.

That kid has a great touch and a lot of talent. Also restraint. You can tell he can fly - but he holds himself back and soars when its appropriate. He also does not play a million triplets like most of the shredders do. He plays creatively and melodically.

I've always thought the biggest problem with the JB or PGb (both of which get a lot of complaints here for being to bright...) is the inability of some of the players doing the complaining to shape a beautiful tone in the first place.

This guy can play. Makes all the difference in the world.
