Hey folks,
well, I suspect it would be rediculous for me to do a review of these pups...since they are pretty much the goto set for anyone who's taking a first leap into duncan...
But I finally got em into this American Deluxe strat. Out go the SCNs, which will find a new and mostly neglected home in my beater Squier...and in goes a JB and Jazz, wired up with a stewmac mega-switch P-model...(PRS wiring).
I had to make some adjustments to get the wiring to work. Namely, I had to swap the Jazz's magnet to reverse the polarity...and I had to modify the wiring so that I was using black for green...etc. But once everything was wired up, everything worked as intended.
Simply put, this guitar is a new axe...completely...granted, going from SCN's to a 2 humbucker isn't a fair comparison...but everything I wanted out of the guitar, but couldn't get with the original axe, is there. The 3 split positions of the switch give me great strat tone...But the two humbuckers are simply fabulous.
JB - The JB is simply awesome. I'm flat out shocked that people here remark that it is too bright, ear piercing or not enough bass. I get incredible bass with this pickup...it's warm, sweet and singing. VERY Thick!! Tones like Vito, Mike Slammer, EVH, etc come out of this pickup with no effort at all. Same goes for pinch and tapped harmonics. I've had pickups that are easy to get harmonics off of, but this takes the cake. Simply put, the greatest all around pickup I've ever tried...and I've been through alot.
Jazz - This is a pickup I've never tried...and holy COW. It smokes. I *used* to speak wonders about the Dimarzio Air Norton in the neck spot....but this pickup is definitely seymour's answer to the air norton (kinda unfair since the Jazz was here first). It's open sounding, sweet toned...not too muddy at all....a GREAT soloing pickup for prog, rock and metal....and it matches so beautifully with the JB....flipping between the two pickups mid solo, is simply awesome.

Now, I know I probably sound all gushy and honeymoonish...and it's probably true...but I've been away from Seymour pups for roughly 20 years. My last SD pup was a JB from the 80s....and its very hard to comment on the tones from that pickup...but it falls in line with my memory, compared to this current JB.
I'm so stoked about how these pickups sound that I'm going to revisit unloading my burstbuckers in my Lester. I had originally decided against selling them, just because I wasn't sure I was going to be happy with anything else....but I'm convinced that i can do ALOT better, given how good these pickups sound....
Wow...alls I can say is wow....
