alright, i have my mind set between these two. i played a guitar with a jb jr in neck a couple of days ago, but i dont knwo how different it would sound in my charvel. i like the smooth sounding tone that artists like petrucci,Vai and satch get. i know they use humbuckers for neck, but will the jb jr or lil 59 give me a nice smooth tone? im totally fed up with the choppers thet it has in it right now.

what do you think would sound best in it?

in that case, can you make a clip of yourself juist going all out in the neck slot.
i wnat to hear how it sounds under high gain(not too high, about gain 7), if it's smooth?
thanks

Re: jb jr or lil 59?

Personally, I'd get a second guitar with full size humbuckers and give up on trying to find a single coil sized pickup that sounds like a full sized humbucker.

I think a Strat type guitar sounds best with vintage style Strat pickups and a humbucker type guitar sounds best with humbuckers that sound like humbuckers.

When I've tried to get both sounds out of one guitar or tried hot single coils or mini humbucking single coils, all I hear is a guitar that doesn't turn me on and doesn't make me feel like playing it.

As for a JB JR or Little 59: the JB JR has the thicker, hotter tone. The Little 59 is a bit brighter and the mids are voiced with a more open, less thick, tonality.

Either makes for a cool bridge pickup but I wouldn't use them as a neck pickup...but that's just me. I prefer vintage style single coils for neck and middle pickups.

What about for my setup HSH Air Norton + Tone Zone, which Seymour Duncan single coil do you recommend me?

well, i do have a double humucker guitar but that is mainly used as back for my charvel. i also have a 1 humbucker guitar too! how's that for 80's :D
jb jr has thicker, hotter tone? that seems to be what im looking for, i want more mids in the enck spot which is why i wouldn't use a normal '59 for a neck pickup in a 2x humbucker guitar. and i dont have the money to get another guiatr at this moment, but if i did i'd be flyingt o teh store right as we speak :13:
looks like i'll go for the jb jr. thanks!
