JB lover meets SC rout in Dream body, oh no

I knew this day would come.
Found the dream body for my Tele parts caster but it has the standard SC Tele rout in the bridge.
Is there any SC sized humbucker that can satisfy me for the JB sound,,, really....honestly...??
Or is it router time and visit to luthier?
In the past I have tried: Lil 59 tele, JB Jr (strat version in Tele bridge).

I have read up here about peoples favorites (Chopper, Hot Rails), but, since I'm now used to a full-size in that bridge position, will I ever be satisfied?

thanks

I'm pretty comfy with a router myself, junior high wood shop. :approve: Good excuse to buy a tool! But if you're not comfy with a router, you can carefully enlarge the route using a large drill bit. I'm presuming a sloppy route job is going to be secluded under a tele-style bridge or a pickguard? Tele hummer bridges can be had, obviously, and will hide some sinful routing. But if it's going to be a top-mounted pickup, I wouldn't touch this.

By the way, I have a Rio Grande twangbucker at the bridge of my tele with a Rio Grande twangbucker bridge. It is a really neat pickup. Very hot and screams, but still has a tele twang to it. And when you split it, it's a real tele pickup!

On the other hand, I don't necessarily reccomend the Rio Grande tele or strat-style hummers for the neck. I have a tallboy at the neck of that tele, and although it sounds great split (it's a strat pickup when split) it's too hot and dark in hummer mode. If you want a neck hummer that splits well but is still atriculate as a hummer I'd go for something with an asymmetrical coil architecture (read: DiMarzio, or hack and rebuild a Seymour).

Thanks - -

I did the HB rout on my current guitar with a saw and a routing drillbit...quite ugly and messy but it worked. I am not so worried about looks but I want to do a good job on this one if I go this way

Hot rails.

Definitely worth it try here.

I do already have a Strat Hot Rails on-hand, and I'd be putting in a cut off bridge (GE Smith style), with a SC pickup ring. Are the Strat and Tele hotrails tone different? I found that the Tele Lil 59 and Strat Lil 59 were significanlty different

thanks

Get the router out. I've never had a sc sized bucker that sounded as good as the real deal.

The Tele bridge will definitely change the sound even if the pickups are the same. The thing is both conductive and magnetic.

I don't know what bridge change you have in mind but I didn't see a good solution to mount Strat pickups in Tele bridges.

I'd get a used Tele hotrail.
