JB Neck? Legit?

Re: JB Neck? Legit?

The screws and lead opening in the baseplate are in the wrong places for it to be any neck model, JB or otherwise.

Re: JB Neck? Legit?

There were some Jackson guitars that came with a JB in bridge and neck positions in the early/mid 90s I believe.

There is only 1 JB model though... well... that is to say that the JB has only ever been, technically, a bridge model.

I could see how someone who wasn't intimately familiar with the SD lineup might think that a JB they pulled from a neck position would therefore be a JB neck model. But no, it's just a regular JB.

Yes i have a jackson that came stock with two JB's.
dave mustaine used to use two JB's as well
it is the SAME as a regular JB except the logo is on the stud coil side on mine.
The one on the Ebay ad is a regular JB and overpriced for a used JB.

Mustaine's King V used to come with a TB5 bridge and JB neck according to the late 90's brochures. It's a regular JB though as far as I know.

I know my own KV1 and as far as I have heard from the guys on JCF forum these guitars never actually came with this set up. Mine came with a TB4 and a SH2, the same as everyone else I have heard of. Now being I havent spoke with every owner of a KV1 out there there is a chance that some are running around with this set up but it sure doesnt seem like many and a lot people believe the catalog was in error.

Re: JB Neck? Legit?

Follow on question: Isn't a Distortion a JB with ceramic mag? If so, wouldn't a Distortion neck with an Alnico V be a 'real' JB Neck?

No... the distortion neck was originally the SH7 Seymourizer a completely different pickup from the Distortion. Its not just an underwound version. The combo of SH6 bridge with SH7 neck became so popular they decided to change the name to SH6N and offer them as a set.

Agreed. Which I still think is a MAJOR shame. The SH7 (I started to grow to hate the SH6N moniker) is an epic, amazing, monstrous pickup in its own right. It's perhaps the best hybrid (not really ;) ) between the SH6 and SH5. Kinda. Anyway. it rocks.
