JB on "People Get Ready"?

Anthem

I'm talking about the Jeff Beck/Rod Stewart song. I know he's playing a Tele in the video, but I've never heard one sound like that. It sounds very much like a humbucker. Is that the JB?

the guy who invented fire said:
on the studio recording Jeff used a Jackson, the Jackso in question has Duncan Alnico II Pro single coils

That was my impression too. That pink Jackson that Tina Turner carved her name into the top of, to be exact. At least that's what I remember! A Strat (or guitar with Strat type pickups ) played by Jeff Beck never sounds like a Strat...it sounds like Jeff Beck! :laugh2: My favorite guitarist...right up there with Jimi in my book. Lew

seymour started noodling that tune at the UGD jam as one guy was shuffling off stage and another was shuffling on ... i wished he wouldve played the whole thing and solo'd on it ...

great tune .. gotta love a bluesy gospel feel to reach down into your soul and fix what ails ya .. i like to play 'revelation' by roben ford right after that ... nice uplifting twofer

cheers

Re: JB on "People Get Ready"?

If you want to hear the JB in action in the hands of JB himself, check out the ''Blow by Blow'' CD and listen to tracks like ''Cause We've Ended As Lovers'' and ''Freeway Jam''. As many complains about the JB pickup sounding like 80's hair metal and can't do anything else but rock and all that B.S. A good player can make it sound anything that they want it to sound like. It's all in the hands of a great player. People tend to blame it on the pickup. JB can only sound like JB. JB will sound like JB no matter what type of equipment he's using. JB can make a $20 guitar sound like a $2000 guitar. :burnout:

Pink Jackson soloist with alnico II single coils into a Rockman, direct into the studio board. That's the info from an old Guitar Player issue I have.
