jb output on my strat

just wired my jb up this evening but had an issue with the output.First of all,I used a 250k pot (to smooth out the highs) but I played both of my guitars through the clean channel on my amp, played my strat first and it seemed fine....however,I played my jackson dinky (it has duncan-designed pickups in it and a 500k pot as well) and to me,the jackson was more percussive, louder, and more punchy on the clean......now that is how I want my strat to sound through the clean.......should I remove the 250k pot (the original pot that came with the guitar) and swap it with a 500k to get that same output as my jackson?......just curious if that would make a diffrence:cool:

Re: jb output on my strat

should be similar, I dont know what kind of duncan designed pickups are in your jackson. It could be even a different magnet depending on what model. Just experiement and have fun. I love the JB but I have 500k Pots and I have to roll the tone back about half way to get decent tone from it.

Re: jb output on my strat

Maybe the pickup is too low and it's causing what seems to be a drop in output. How high is it above the pickguard on the strat?

it's about 1/4 way up from the pickguard base

I think it should be up a bit higher than that. That seems a bit low to me. Maybe you should raise it, see how that works.

well, the duncan designed pickup in my jackson I discovered is supposed to be a version of the jb......well,that leaves me to believe that I should go back to a 500k pot.......I guess that's case closed eh?
