JB squeal w/ nickel cover

Last night I had a problem with pretty bad sqealing at higher volumes. I put covers on my SH-2 neck and JB bridge. I'm assuming that it's micorphonic feedback from the covers. Will removing the covers eliminate this problem? I play through a 72 deluxe reverb pretty cranked and thought maybe the tubes were pushed too hard. Then I realized that it could be the covers causing the squealing. thanks.

$3 will solve the problem.

On the baking isle at the grocery store is parafin cooking wax.

Heat it in a soup pan till it's liquid, but let it cool off a little. Never boil it.

Holding onto the lead, submerge the pickup in the wax till all the tiny bubbles stop coming up. Don't let it touch the bottom of the hot pan. Sometimes, I put a piece of corrugated cardboard on the bottom, so the pickup can sit there.

Quickly put the pickup on some paper plates, and straight into the fridge till it's cooled off. Wipe off the wax, and clean it up. Install. The squeal will disappear.

That's how I do it anyway. Some people own real potting equipment, but a pan works just fine.
