JB versus Doug Rappaport pup

I have a DR Knaggs that came with Doug's signature pup. I felt like it lacked dynamics and mids. Additionally it did not pair well with my Mezzabarba head for aggressive gain.
I know the JB sounds even and balanced in another guitar just curious if anyone has A/B'd a DR with a JB?

Lots of good video on YouTube of Doug playing his #1 Knaggs with a Duncan ‘78. Incredible tone. Many will describe the ‘78 as a very ‘bright’ pickup - but it sure seems to compliment whatever the combo of woods and components are in the Knaggs guitar.

@PDC yes I've seen his vids. The 78 is not his pup tho right?
I'm comparing his signature pup with a JB. Trouble with those vids is 1-not my rig 2-Not my hands :wall:

He does really well with a Saturday Night Special, too.

I didn't know he had a signature Duncan pickup. Everything I've read about the bridge pickup in his Knaggs says it's the Duncan '78.

Damn fine guitar you have, though.

I don't thin he has a signature Duncan, but he did a few demos, and made them sound great.

How much gain do you use? Is a clean tone important?
