JBJ/JBL Question...

Do any of the older JB pickups, JBL/JBJ, have short legs?
All of the ones I have seen recently for sale have had long legs.
I'd like to try one in my Charvel but it doesn't have room for long leg pickups.

Thanks!

I think my JBL has short legs but
1) it's currently installed so I'm not sure and
2) it was stock in my Hamer so they may have ordered it specifically that way.

You could always look out for OEM models 2nd hand though.

The other (presumably 90s model) which I have is just marked JB and that is definitely short legged also in case that helps at all.

Duncan started offering short leg baseplates for standard humbuckers in the early '90s.

You're less likely to find a paper-labeled JBJ/JBL with short legs, but they do exist as there is some overlap in that time period.

You're far more likely to find a printed label JBJ/JBL with the short legs.

Of course, you could also get a "Trembucker" (TB4J/TB4L) as those have had short legs from the beginning. The Trembucker spacing is also likely to be better suited to your Charvel.

Ok, good ideas and info all around.
Thanks.

I guess I'll be on the lookout for a printed label one, or maybe I'll give the RTM a go and see what that sounds like.

For a muscular, dynamic pickup in the same vein as the JB, but with its own personality, the RTM is a great choice!
