hi, first post here... does anyone know when the JBs went to 4 conductor and lost the heavy shielding... thanks.....Rick

Um, if you ask the people who work for SD, they'll tell you the pickups have changed minimally over the years. The winds, materials, etc. are all the same with the exception of the designs on the base plate. That's about it. I don't know when they switched over to 4-conductor wiring, but I assume the pickups have always had pretty decent shielding.

If I remember correctly, there was some talk about the 4-conductor pickups having slightly better shielding. SD started making 4-conductor pickups pretty early on for The Mag (SH-3), Duncan Distortion (SH-6), and Seymourizer II (SH-7). They eventually started using it for most of their other humbuckers after that. I'm not sure when the transition of the JB's wiring was, though.
