Jeff Beck Wired

Does anyone happen to know what Beck was using on Wired? Strat through a Marshall... I'm sure of that.

Was he also using a Vox Tonebender? Sola Sound?

Re: Jeff Beck Wired

I think he used a combination of his oxblood Les Paul and the strat (pictured on the cover of the disc).

Strat on Led Boots for sure. Les Paul on most everything else.

One of my all time favorite guitar tones is in "Come Dancing" (he uses the Les Paul here) at the 1:43 mark where there's a serious lower octave added to his sound - this might be an effect patched through the old 1970's Synclavier.

Re: Jeff Beck Wired

There is a good deal of Strat on that album, he has trem work all over the place. The LP is all over Blow By Blow, but I don't think it dominates Wired quite as much. I love both albums a ton.

Re: Jeff Beck Wired

Mostly the white Strat through 50 watt Marshalls is what I assumed. Maybe there's a Les Paul and/or Twin Reverb mixed in too. Don't know about the overdrive pedal...had Beck settled on the Ratt at that point or not?

Hey you guys: on Ebay if you do a search for Jeff Beck you'll find a guy selling a live DVD of Jeff Beck in Japan. If you're a fan, you'll love this DVD. The camera work and sound are excellant. There's a glitch here and there, but overall, I highly recommend grabbing this DVD before it's not available. It seems to be a bootleg.

It's fairly recent, and the band is playing better than when I saw them in Phoenix a couple of years ago...

Re: Jeff Beck Wired

Yeah, after listening to more of that album, the strat is on most of the tunes.

Re: Jeff Beck Wired

It seems to be mostly Strat. But the fuzzbox can make it harder to tell exactly what's being used. Was the Ratt out in 1976? Is he using a ring modulator in there somewhere?
