Jeff Loomis Blackouts?

Hey all,

I'm looking to upgrade pickups on my Schecter Blackjack sls c-7. While it has blackouts in it already, which sound great, I was planning on swapping them for either a black winter set or bkp aftermaths for a bit more clarity and richness. Then it dawned on me that Jeff Loomis has a set, but there isn't much on them on the internet. What I was wondering is if these can offer a sound closer to the aforementioned pickups for less work and money, or should I go ahead and go to passives? Cleans aren't too high on my priorities since I'm sure all three can do the job along with other guitars, so the focus here is on modern metal chugs and such.

Thanks.

Re: Jeff Loomis Blackouts?

The Jeff Loomis Blackouts tend to have more mids, and a little less highs than the regular Blackouts, which are sort of scooped. If you are after clarity, the Loomis won't have any more (mostly less) than what you currently have. The Black Winters also have a bump in the mids, and won't sound as 'clear' as regular Blackouts. All 3 of them will get the chuggy metal thing going, though.
