It would sound more middy with less bass, It's difficult to say "how big" the difference could be, personally after seeing that schematic I'd take it to SLO specs before doing anything

I may do this exact same mod. Shouldn't be too hard, and I may have the resistor sitting around somewhere. Thanks for the idea, and let me know your impression of the 12AU7.

Very cool info! I wish I had the stones to try to mod an amp. Id be too scared of screwing it up. If my spousal unit wasnt so, uh.... ummmm... particular, yeah, we'll go with that.. Id buy some pedal kits from DIY or an amp building kit..

Well Grimespace from HCAF/GuitarAmpBoard also tried the same slope resistor mod and he loves it too.

Also, I just got those tubes, I'll do some experimentation over the next couple days and report back.
