Sock Market Trader
I've been selling off some of the pedals I've collected over the years but never used much . . . and ended up trading for this thing last week:

Finally sat down and spent some quality time with it at good volume last night. Took a little while to get the hang of the extra knobs, but I think this thing is pretty incredible.

The volume/tone are the same as on any other overdrive pedal. The drive and push knobs interact to change the gain structure in a variety of interesting ways, you just have to mess with them to get a feel for it. But it's the mid/mid freq knobs that really turn this thing into a musical chameleon.

You want tubescreamer-y or klon-y sounds? Boost the mid a bit and turn the mid frequency knob until you hit the sweet spot, then back the drive and push knobs down until it's just barely overdriving. Works well for edge of breakup, and a little beyond - check. You want a great marshally crunch? Put the drive up high, the push knob low, and set the mid/mid frequency to 12 o'clock. You want it to act like a Boss DS-1 with your rig? Roll the mids back and crank up the drive/level. There are so many sounds in here! Playing around I found settings for a Neil Young-ish tweed amp about to explode kind of thing, a David Gilmour-y muff into overdrive sound, and even a gated fuzz tone if you ask it nicely.

Crazy flexible, and tons of different settings that just work. Seems like the kind of pedal that could be happy with any guitar/amp combination because of the EQ. This is a great gain pedal - doesn't seem to have that tight bass / chugga chugga modern medal thing going on . . . but for just about any other music style it's pretty cool.

ive always liked that thing. never owned one, but almost pulled the trigger a few times. a friend has one so ive used it a handful of times while jamming at his place and i sounds and feels fantastic!
