good morning everyone! i need some help if possible. i wired together a jimmy page les paul with 4 push pull using the diagram from seymour duncan (modern diagram). the problem is with the neck tone. the tone doesnt work at all. it only acts likes like a switch to put the humbuckers in series. when i pull the neck tone to active series and with the 3 way toggle set to bridge hb, the bridge humbucker doesnt output any sound at all... could anyone explain what i did wrong? or how i might be able to go and fix this? thank you in advance!

Re: jimmy page les paul wiring help

I believe that's normal. It's one of the things that I don't like about the JP wiring. There are a couple dead positions that you have to watch out for. The problem is, when you put them in series, the bridge runs through the neck. So you need to be in the neck position. Somewhere around here I have my own version that solves that problem, but I don't think it's on this computer.

Re: jimmy page les paul wiring help

Yes, this is the way I understood it to work. It is a little too fiddly for me.

Re: jimmy page les paul wiring help

thank you guy for informing me about the deadzones. stupid question, why is there a cap. on the neck tone if it serves no purpose?

@artietoo, i found your old posting with your wiring diagrams but unforunately its not accesible anymore.

would you be able to point in the right direction on how to fix the tone issue and the deadzone issue?

thank you for your help and input.

Re: jimmy page les paul wiring help

When the switches are down, everything should be normal and the neck tone should have an effect if the pickup selector is in the middle or rhythm/neck position. It should have some effect even if the pickups were in series. Sounds like one or more of the neck tone connections are not complete.

I'm sure I still have the diagram, but it'll be on a "back-up" drive somewhere. Right now my wife has me doing some gardening. Gimme some time, and I'll find it. Feel free to PM me a reminder if a day or two slip by.
