I was just got a JTM 45 from a friend. He wants me to ebay it for him.
On 10 it has low output (i.e. my fender champ is louder) all tubes are
glowing orange and appear to be original ( I dated it to 89') The amp
has not been used for the last 8 years. The only odd things I've noticed
so far is the Impedance switch was set on 4 ohms ( I doubt the original
owner had a 4ohm cab??) I've got it at 8 ohms now w/t one 8 ohm speaker.
The speaker has no issue's. the other thing is the GZ34 tube fillament
appears to be crooked? Looks like the the leaning tower of pisa. The 1st
thing i will try is swapping some tubes. Can a 5u4gb be used in place of
the GZ 34? I know a GZ34 can't be used in a 5u4gb amp because the voltage
is to high. But how about the other way around?? (just for testing)
If all the tubes check out? what next? The output tranny?
