Just a "heads up" on a Crown amp.

This isn't exactly guitar related, but it could be, if you do a stereo pre-amp setup such as a J-Station or Digitech pedalboard, et al.

Musicians Friend/Guitar Scenter commissioned Crown to build them an amp. It's basically the Crown XLI series with a custom MF/GC faceplate. (Confirmed by a Crown rep in the Crown forum.) I snagged the X1000, (200WRMS/ch), for $200 when it was MF's SDOTD. Now they're offering the same amp for $100.

For anyone who might want a "nice" 200W/ch amp, this price is amazing. And probably won't last long.

Like I said . . . just a "heads up". ;)

Not really. Inputs are XLR or RCA. Both are simple to convert from 1/4". (Off-the-shelf Radio Shack.)
Outputs are speaker wire. Either bare wire or Speakon terminals. Again, both easy to convert to 1/4" guitar cab inputs. :)

Be that as it may . . . 200WRMS/per ch, for genuine Crown power . . . for a Franklin! How can you go wrong? ;)

Crown power rules. I have first hand experience with a half dozen different Crown amp models and all have delivered the goods without fail night after night.

OK there was one that gave up the ghost but we sent it back and had a brand new one inside of a month and it soldiered on for years and years. Great amps backed up by the maker.

A C-note for a stereo 200 watt Crown? Where do I sign up?

Re: Just a "heads up" on a Crown amp.

Cobain used a 200 watt Crown pushed by a Mesa Boogie Studio Pre-amp.

I hope they don't do that . . . but, I don't see it on MF's website, even though it's in the new catalog. However, they do have the X2000 for $200. I think it's around 300-400W.

The Musician Friend Crown amps are what Crown calls the XLi Series, but with a custom faceplate. (This is straight from the Crown forum.)

Here's the breakdown on the models:

Cobain wasn't known for having a good tone.
