Just A Quick Tuner Question - Strat

I am Hot-Rodding a Fender Strat.
Standard MIM Maple neck with maple fretboard.
I want to install Sperzell locking tuners on it.
Will the holes need to be routed to accomodate for the new tuners?
Should I just go with Schallers...?
Thanx

Re: Just A Quick Tuner Question - Strat

i'd go with the fender schallers, they are a direct drop in for strats and teles, no drilling and no need to make the holes larger. i have the fender schallers on a few of my fenders and i have no complaints, i'm going to put them on all of them.

Re: Just A Quick Tuner Question - Strat

I agree. I think Schallers are great tuners, but I personally like to have as much string as possible on the post (BB King school). How much time are you really saving?

Re: Just A Quick Tuner Question - Strat

Thank you very much for the help, I've had both and Prefer the spirzels.. but I will go with the Schallers for the Fender.

Once I get It all put together I will post pictures of my strat creation.
Alder Body HSS configuration with SD Invader, LSR Roller Nut, Schaller Locking tuners. maple neck, maple fretboard, 21 vintage frets, vintage tremelo bridge.

Re: Just A Quick Tuner Question - Strat

Locking tuners save a lot of time actually. Just put the string through the post, pull it as taut as you can, lock it down, and tune to pitch. You should have around half a winding around the post or so.
