Just A Rhinestone Stratocaster...

My 1998 Fender American Standard Strat just got a makeover. I made a trip to Dollarama and found a couple of sets of self-adhesive rhinestones that gave me the idea. Now my geetar has all the country tone it can muster.:cool2:

Is it like skittles-pox? As in, you take one off and a bunch more pop up..?

Re: Just A Rhinestone Stratocaster...

I like the color of your Strat, I don't recall seeing too many in that color. Looks like you have the rubies laid out in a nice pattern. Did you draw it on and then glue it on the lines?

Thanks.:) I think the colour is called either dark purple metallic or midnight wine. The rhinestones are self-adhesive like tape so no glue was needed. And before I l laid on the stones in a pattern I rolled myself a big fatty of Alaska Thunder F**k which got me nice and baked so I could get in touch with my artistic side. No pencil lines...just my imagination & steady hand. Without the weed the guitar would probably look like sh!t.;)

Looks great

But doesnt that get in the way?

The rhinestones don't really get in the way and I'm glad I didn't go overboard with them. If they were on the pick guard they would get knocked off. If I get bored with the stones in the future I could always peel them off.

Yup, it’s called midnight wine.
My strat is the same color.

I don't think the weed did you any favors. That looks pretty gross to me.

"The rhinestones don't really get in the way and I'm glad I didn't go overboard with them." You say you DIDN'T go overboard with them. I guess you're still under the influence.

You posted that in order to get our responses/opinions, so I gave mine.

But please understand that I truly believe beauty is subjective and I totally support anyone's opinions. And I'm glad that you have successfully created your desired result in your guitar's appearance. I hope it brings you much joy.

Re: Just A Rhinestone Stratocaster...

Has a kind of Porter Waggoner meets Prince vibe.

I might consider something like that for a show, but if it were me I would lay down a clear layer of removable tape and do the stoning on top of the tape so after the show I could just lift off all the sparkle stuff in one go.

Right on! Hey I don't mind...it's not everyone's cup 'o' tea.;)
