Re: Just Bought a pedal Made from WWII T-34 Russian Tank Parts
really, the Muffs were not made from Russain tanks..lol,, thats a myth. I already have a super nice third version 'bubble font' muff. I like the bubble fonts better then the super expensive Civil War Blue-Gray muffs and better than the similar if not the same 1st edition Green Russian Tall Font Muffs , which both the Civil War and 1st edition tall font muffs are smoother and have more bass and less bite than the Bubble font Green Russian Muffs-more like an old vintage Rams head I guess .
I bought this muff here in this post cause it's a second edition 4 screw heavy sheet metal box as compared the 6 screw Muff with lighter sheet metal muff I already have which is the 3rd edition Bubble Font made in Russia Muff 1990's with THIS circuitboard;
-I am hoping this old second edition Muff I just bought which I m posting about has the old vintage Brown larger resistors, and would be delighted if it turns out to be a bubble font transition Muff between 1st and second editions.I'm hoping the circuitboard on the 2nd edition V7 Buble Font I just bought looks like THIS;
(It was part of teh muffs collection from a band called Monster Magnets from the eastern Seaboard)-
If this Muff I bought turns out to sound as good as the one I have( or hopefully better), i can sell my other Muff.
There were circuitboard changes to the Russian Muffs, an the one I have now has the last circuitboard before the change to the same board as the last Russian made Black Russian Muff, which is the same, but has different traces and probably is not as thick.
As far as the new Electroharmonix Muff Green Russian reissue, I'm sure it sounds similar, but doubt it has exactly the same "mojo" as the real deal old 90's Muffs.
If you want to get into the real RussiAn Muff tone for a lot less money, you can go last Russian made 90's Black Russian Muff - or V11 US made Bass Muff which should get close according to Kit ray,. the Muff Guru;
THE SOUND( OF THE BLACK RUSSIAN MUFF) - Almost identical tone to the V7 Green Russian Muffs, but slightly less clarity and slightly less bottom end on the examples I have played. Most people would not notice the difference. The bass and treble of the tone varies slightly from unit to unit, but the differences are usually minor. These are discontinued, but the V11 Bass Big Muff sounds very similar.
In any case, the old 90's Green Russian 2nd edition muff I now have is a fantastic pedal, I don't get to hopped up about pedals in general, but the Russian muff is Wicked, and sounds absolutely phenomenal;.
