Just bought another Celestion G12M

Now I've got a complete G12M equipped 1960A - in addition to this speaker I've got a '73 cream-back G12M25 and 2 G12M reissues. I think I'll probably have them in an X pattern, with the reissues in the top right and bottom left corners, the cream back in the bottom right and this in the top left. Should give a good mix of sound and slightly more depth to it.

Who else is running blackbacks?

Do you mean the Heritage Reissue G12M's or the regular Greenback ones that are 25 watts? I love the sound of greenback speakers, very syrupy, creamy, and mid-rangey, everything I like in a good sound! My ideal speaker, and the one I'll be using once I get a new amp and cab setup.

The two reissues I've got are the regular Greenback ones (25w). I'd love to try the 20w ones but I'd probably end up blowing them, as my head puts out about at least 125w RMS when it's absolutely flat out.

What amp and cab setup are you planning on getting?

A Celtic Edana (I've voiced my concern about the lower wattage speaker blowing up if I play it), through (until I have enough money and space for a 4x12) an Avatar 2x12 with a Greenback and G12H30 speaker combo.

Cool - I almost went and bought a pair of G12H30's instead for mixing with the G12M's, as I bet that'd be a great tonal combination.

The Black Back 25's are very good speakers. I'm not running those right now, but I've played those in the past. Excellant tonal depth and warmth.

I got to play a 20 watt Heritage loaded cab a few days ago. Oh My! I was very impressed. These are even creamier with more harmonic complexity in the mids than the 25's. Not as powerful as the 30's, but sweeter.

I love the blackbacks. To me, just a SLIGHT bit more in your face but great crunch and warmth. Sorry I got rid of my cab a few years ago. Money was tight again.
