Just Bought The Vox AD120VTH Head

STRATDELUXER97

Stratoblaster Tone Meister
I've been looking at this head for awhile and I thought it would sound great through my 4x12 V30 Marshall cab? The price is pretty hard to beat also for $600....Anyone else want to comment on your's? Also...I didn't order the foot controller yet and I was wondering if the F/C is absolutely needed since I already use an 847 wah and an external EB Volume pedal? I Only bought the head and not the Vox cab you see in the picture.

I Installed stereo output jacks on my Fender Cyber Twin and this allows me to run the Vox head into my CT with Celestions in stereo or I can run the Vox head in stereo through my V30 Marshall 4x12 if needed....Both amps are designed to run off 2 8 ohm speaker loads and that's cool also..

Next I need to buy a peda(A/B/Y switcherl that'll allow me to run both the Cyber Twin or the Vox through the same set of speakers...I'm looking into the Tone Bone product right now...I Love the Cyber Twin for it's phenomenal clean tones, but it lacks a bit in the British tones...I'm hoping the Vox will cover my AC30 and my Marshall type tones better...Guess we'll soon see? i'd just stick the Vox head on top of my fender cyber twin..

Like everyone else has said, I don't know what it sounds like, but its one of the nicest looking amps I've seen in awhile. :cool3:

The singer in my band has an AD60, lots and lots of usualable tons on it, a wide variety of distortion sounds so that'll cover you for sure. It sounds pretty hifi ish. I think you'll want the foot controller eventually because you can set like 5 presets and select that as well tweak some of the effects on it.

My home practice rig is the AD60 (mono) head on top of either my Bogner 2-12 or Jubilee 4-12 straight cab. I would have killed for this setup when I was a kid, since it'll do almost anything, and it's all laid out like an analog amp and pedals.
My favorite features are the OD models in front of the amp models, so you can tailor the gain any way you want. Also, the variable wattage is great for late night playing.
I love having the built in tuner, and FX that a child could navigate.
Even though this amp looks retro, it'll out-gain almost any amp made for metal.
There's a button you push and a knob you turn to dial in just the right amount of noisegate threshold, and it's really necessary if you use highgain and turn the amp up loud. The only negative about most modeling amps is that they get a bit hissy when turned up loud, like most SS amps. John, you may want to yank the stock 12AX7 out and replace it with one of your best pre tubes, because it makes a slight difference in the touch sensitivity........something the L6's could benefit from.
It's kind of a pain to get that tube out, though.

Hey GJ....Thanks for the great informative post buddy...So you're saying I need to stick another one of my magic RCA Long Plate 12AX7s into this puppy like I did with my Cyber Twin, huh? :smack:

The first series Cyber Twins aren't very easy to get at the preamp tubes either....

Cool. that'd be my choice out of the current modelers, Zentera aside.

The Zenteras are cool, but too pricey!
This Vox gets great reviews and is priced within reach for most of us...
