My home practice rig is the AD60 (mono) head on top of either my Bogner 2-12 or Jubilee 4-12 straight cab. I would have killed for this setup when I was a kid, since it'll do almost anything, and it's all laid out like an analog amp and pedals.
My favorite features are the OD models in front of the amp models, so you can tailor the gain any way you want. Also, the variable wattage is great for late night playing.
I love having the built in tuner, and FX that a child could navigate.
Even though this amp looks retro, it'll out-gain almost any amp made for metal.
There's a button you push and a knob you turn to dial in just the right amount of noisegate threshold, and it's really necessary if you use highgain and turn the amp up loud. The only negative about most modeling amps is that they get a bit hissy when turned up loud, like most SS amps. John, you may want to yank the stock 12AX7 out and replace it with one of your best pre tubes, because it makes a slight difference in the touch sensitivity........something the L6's could benefit from.
It's kind of a pain to get that tube out, though.
