Just got an ART Tube MP Mike Preamp

Just got this little preamp, because i need to record using cakewalk.

What this thing does is takes the guitar/mike signal and gives it up to 70 db boost. I still need an amp simulator... But what I've noticed was when I ran the guitar into the preamp and took the levels out, i was able to crank my blues Junior up to half power (sounded much better), without murdering my parents/neighbors. Does anyone know if doing this will cook my BJ's tubes faster?

the higher you run the volume, the faster your tubes will die, thats the way it goes and there isnt anything you can do about it. half power isnt going to kill them that quickly, full power will, but i still get about 6 months out of a set
