Just got back from Guitar Center, tried the new Line 6 delay...

I tried that new Line 6 "echo park" delay pedal.
looks like this
What I liked about it:
It is compact. It's about the size of a Boss pedal, but taller, and just a tiny bit wider.
It sounded really really good.
It had a butt load of effects and modes. I was having a lot of fun with the "swell" feature, as well as the "warp" knob which adds modulation to the delay signals, and the the "reverse" mode was really cool too.

What I didn't like:
I hated the switch. You don't just step on it to turn it on and off the way a Boss pedal works. Stepping on this pedal only adjusts the tap tempo. To switch it on and off, you have to step down on it harder (all the way down) until you hear the click, the same way that you turn a wah pedal on and off. BOO!! Why even add a rate knob if you're going to do that?
That crap would be a nuisance on stage, IMO.
Boss pedals are still the most practical. I prefer the Boss DD series where you can set the tap tempo, and just switch on and off. I don't wan't to have to worry about "tap gently" and "tap harder" when I'm on stage.

Another thing I noticed about this pedal was that it does increase the volume by just a hair when you switch it on. That's not really a bad thing. It's not too noticable. I also read that you cannot daisy chain this thing with other boss pedals since the higher power cunsumption will create hum. That means you'll have to give it it's own power supply, or possibly use that voodoo lab pedal power 2.

Anyone else try the echo park?

THanks for the review, I havent tried one but I am interested in one. That switch dosent sound to appealing though.

My local store has them but i wasn't able to test it properly because the display was completely jacked. The on/off thing confused the hell out of me too. I'll have to spend some time with one to give it a good run...

...personally I'm interested in the compressor.

Sometimes engineers try to make things harder than they have to be. It amazes me how they can screw up a really easy thing.

In my world, the colors red and green mean things, stop/go, good/bad, danger/safe.

Well, I recently was talking with some engineers about why they put an LED on some gear and it was red/orange/green. I asked them what the hell does orange mean. They came back and told me that it identified a certain attachment. I asked them why didn't they just go red/green. It's either attached or not.

The answer was: well, we found that if you alternated red and green really fast, you'd get orange. we thought that was cool so we did it.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Interesting answer....

As for the pedals, I would go for the bigger line 6 delay, as you can program 4 presets & it seems a bit easier to use than that weird press hard/press gently business.

Haven't tried one yet (just got a Yamaha Magic Stomp myself which covers a lot of bases for me, except for Reverse Delay) but the Reverse feature might make it worth having, too bad about that switch though (YIKES!).

Re: Just got back from Guitar Center, tried the new Line 6 delay...

Too bad the "reverse" mode on the DD-5 is not any good (or maybe there is just something wrong with mine). The tempo gets all screwy (out of time) and it adds the original signal with the reversed signal. :(

How is the reverse mode on the DD-6 and DD-20? Is it a true "reverse" effect?
