So after months of the sound clips playing at the back of my mind, I bit the bullet and ordered up a kit for the OLC Supreaux pedal kit. Comes with a box, PCB, parts. I think it's going to cost me about 62 bucks after shipping.
Anyway, the story is that it is pedal made to sound like the overdrive on an old Supro Amp. It has a really smooth, primitive sound that breaks up in a really unique way. Here's what I mean:
Pretty pretty pretty
Custard pie?? Smooshy wooshy crunchy wunchy
It's like the proudest duck in the pond. Damn I love that first sample.
Anyway, they make a bunch of other pedals that I'm going to want to build at some point - the Fender Princeton and the bright-channel AC30 one. I think they also do a Matchless one that sounds fantastic.
(also - the clips are recorded really well)
I'm just about to finish my fabric-wrapped, tooled-leather pickguarded, rickenbackery-gretchey-stonesey telecaster, and I am thinking it might be a wonderful thing through one of these...
