OK, I've been on the prowl for either a Fender, G&L, Grosh, or Suhr HSS superstrat with figured top/no pickguard. I just scored this $1300 mint G&L Legacy Deluxe for it's opening bid of $750. I may not even have to change the pickups. Now, the dreaded 7 day wait! :32:

By the way, check the Trader Section for my killer natural satin flame G&L.

It comes with a US Duncan JB tremspaced and 2 Alnico 5 G&L vintage strat pickups.
If the JB sounds good in this guitar, I'll leave the whole thing alone. If not, I'll probably put a C-5, C-4, or CC tremspaced in it. I may set this one up for tremolo use, unlike my other strats, which are anchored and barless. I have a feeling this is gonna be a LONG week. If I get what I'm asking for my other G&L, the whole transaction/swapperoo will cost me $35 out of pocket. That's the best part!

G&L necks are real similar to Anderson or Am Std C shape. After owning a couple G&L's, I've realized I like their 12" radius necks much more than the vintage 7.5" or even Fender's 9.5". I'm assuming this one is like an Am Std with a flatter radius. I'm a little leery of buying without trying, but G&L's always play killer, and this one is a steal. I fully expected a bunch of sniping right at the end of the auction, but I got lucky and my proxy bid went all the way down to the starting price, since nobody else was paying attention.

well, they do offer a wide nut - 1 3/4" - their standard nut is 1 5/8"

I agree with the Joneser, the profile is kinda like a "C", with big 6100 frets and a 12" radius - makes for easy bending

If you're like me at all GJ, the G&L will treat you right. I forsee very little ever surpassing the Grosh though.

Chris, there's a Grosh on Ebay I was watching, in Tigerseye flame. THAT'S the one I really wanted, but I just can't do $2100. Plus, I'd constantly worry about dinging a Grosh or Suhr that cost a fortune. By the time I'm done tweaking the setup and possibly crowning the frets on this G&L, it's gonna be a keeper. I sure hope I love the neck. That's the hardest part of buying without ever playing that particular model.
