Just showin' off some of my smaller amps--lotsa pics so be ready

Hey guys and gals--some folks have asked me about the amps I used on my recordings so I figured I'd snap a few shots just to share. As far as $$, the biggest expense is the tweed Bassman combo which ran me about $1500 (not at once) once I put in the Sozo caps and Mercury trannies along with the new G12H30 and Cannibus Rex speakers. It's a hand built point to point breadboard etc, etc, etc.... The Champ cost me $300 off ebay about 2 or 3 years ago. The Vox was $180 off ebay (quite high, but I wanted it) and the Univox was a whopping $129 off ebay and it was close enough for me to pick up. Notice on the Champ pics that the front says "Fender Musical Instraments" but the rear says "Fender Electric Instraments". Wonder if the factory did that during the transition or if one of them is a fake:27:

This is a 59 Bassman "clone" amp with a 2X12 tweed combo cab. Sounds really great for rock and blues by itself and with my Plexitone it ROCKS.

This is the Univox U45-B I'm always yakking about, lol. The flagship of my collection in my eyes as far as classic tone goes. The knobs are volume, tone, tremelo (which only works with a pedal that nobody ever has, lol)

Here's my little 65 Vox Student amp. Sounds eh by itself, but man does it mix well with other amps on recordings!

My 65 Champ. Wow. Classic Fender tone that doesn't blow out the windows. Records like a...well, Champ!

You call that bassman small? :-) Im sure they all scream, very nice!

Re: Just showin' off some of my smaller amps--lotsa pics so be ready

Coool pics. I need to get a Champ.

how big is the speaker in the Univox?

Great group shot! I like what you said about the Vox mixing well with the other amps. That just goes to show the magic of combining similar but different tones in one recording.

And yes, your recordings sound great.

That's a 12. A friend of mine put a greenback in one and it made it sound even more like an old Marshall.

I love that Champ. It's not a bottom heavy amp, that's for sure but it gets that classic SRV, blues, Clapton vibe. Some guys rip out the baffle and put a 10 in them.

Keith, you made my night. Thank you for the compliment. The Vox thanks you as well, lol. Layering different tones is my favorite thing to do now. Back when I only had a 4-track, it was near impossible but thanks to all the great multi and infinite track recording software, we can do all the things I used to read about. It's really a lotta fun.

From the pic it almost made it look like it might be a 15". But I figured a 15 was unlikely in a small amp. You know, I had been considering making a collection of smaller amps. It looks like you've done very well and have fuelled my fire to do what you have done. I've been thinking new small amps but you've apparently have done well going after some older ones. I may have to watch for a Champ and a Univox. Thanks for the cool thread.

Ah, I loves me some amps! With a lot more money, some of us amp freaks would be downright scary! Cool collection!

Re: Just showin' off some of my smaller amps--lotsa pics so be ready

We would have huge space....filled with endless rows of amps.....a few people would be lost in there;)

Yep. While some guys would be buying high dollar guitars or EVH $25K Frankensteins, I'd be fullfilling my fantasy......to own all the amps in the Tribute to British Amps thread......and also the best of Fender!

that 2x12 Bassman combo brings a tear to my eye!!! :baby: :7: :baby:

Nice stuff bro!

Is that univox the one that uses a pair of 6BM8's in the power section?

My dad used to have that same amp I belive...traded it to my uncle when they were both kids, my uncle still has it and it is a killer sounding amp!

Nice collection. I love the Bassman. That is one amp that I want to own, clone or otherwise.

Where'd you get Gossamer? :D

I got him at the Disney store many moons ago. They had a big one and I'm sorry now I didn't get it, but at the time, that's all I could afford. My stepson never warmed to him so I got him--and I'm soooo happy, lol.

I have a Tempo (Univox) that is small and quite, but clean tone only. Does someone make a pedal that works with these at all. I tried a traditional one and nothing happens.
