Just sold a guitar. First time ever.

Kind of a weird feeling. Sunburst Squier Strat. Had plans for it when I bought it a couple years ago. I never did anything to it, and an old friend was looking for a guitar to start playing again. Haven't seen him in a couple years. It was good to shoot the breeze with him. He played a few of my guitars and through a few amps. I think I really lit the fire with him. It was cool. Hoping things work out and he comes over more often to jam and hang out.

I went to visit a good friend and probably the best drummer I'll ever have the opportunity to play with, today. He's in a hospital bed in his living room. They say he only has a couple days left. Today sucked for the most part, but tonight ended on a good vibe.

I know this got kind of all over the place, just remember to keep the ones you love close.

I don't sell often....and in fact never since I make my own guitars and they have no branding to them (mostly).

I have sold guitars that I never thought I would. I sold all my modern Gibby's once I started buying 70's ones that killed the modern ones tonally......and then my builds almost render the Norlin's to their cases.

Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope his passing can be as easy as possible - and it’s good to hear you spent some time with him. Guitars may come and go, but connection through music is timeless.

Condolences to you and all who he/ she touched.

Just always remember the tiny miniscule things that made him your bud.

It's funny how the mind works. I can tell all kinds of stuff about you from the way you structured/worded your post.

I've only parted with a guitar I owned twice, both pretty cool guitars that I liked when I got 'em but ended up neglecting after the stable grew more. The pack-rat in me hates parting with things I have room for, just in case I ever want/need them but guitars are meant to be played and if they're not, you're doing it wrong. Letting it go to a loving home is the best thing you could have done about it.

Just yesterday I heard that a person pretty much everyone in the Greek Metal scene knew, nicknamed "the Polish" unexpectedly died at 42 and even though I only knew him from seeing him around in concerts and having casual talks with him about music and stuff, it surprisingly affected me. He was a genuine good guy, not having much but loving what he did have, doing what he loved.

So today I woke up with the exceptionally strong desire to listen to Helloween's "I Want Out" and have done so by alternating various versions/covers for the past two hours, non-stop.
Can't even explain why that song except for the fact that he was a huge Running Wild and Helloween fan and Helloween are also one of my favorite bands.

Like I said, funny how the human mind works...

Re: Just sold a guitar. First time ever.

I’ve only ever sold one guitar and it was my second electric (BC Rich Warlock Revenge) because it was dull sounding and abysmal to play plus the novelty wore off quick
Still have my first acoustic (3/4 herald acoustic) and my first electric (Yamaha ERG121) and every guitar after that warlock

It's a sickness man. SNAP OUT OF IT NOW!!!!!!!!

I rehabbed...... Juiced my OR15/Eminence Big Ben with the EVH'd Peavey T-60. Back to normal now.

Seriously though, I haven't strummed the Squier in probably 6 months. Plus it went to a good dude.

Wait a minute! Did it have any flood damage?

Lol, no. All my gear was moved to a high and dry location just in case of a flood.

And thanks guys for the kind words about my friend. He passed yesterday.

Re: Just sold a guitar. First time ever.

Squiers can come and go, but mostly sorry to hear about your friend, condolences man.

Re: Just sold a guitar. First time ever.

I still remember the first time I sold a guitar. I didn't really like it so it wasn't hard at all. I've never sold a guitar I liked, be it cheap or expensive.
Somedays I hate my Jackson Kelly, but I'll plug it and it has things going on that I really enjoy.

The guy that sold me his Tele had never sold a guitar before. He was really reluctant, and he also has a guitar I'm madly interested in: An Ibanez Prestige SZ4020.
Maybe he'll sell his second guitar ever to me in the near future...
