Just took an ebay gamble on some wah pedals

Working at a computer all day is not the most fun for a variety of reasons but sometimes I end up down these weird rabbit holes and just hit "make offer" on some weird guitar stuff that I later remember.....oh yea, that was real money I just spent. What is wrong with me?

This is one of those times. Somehow I found a seller on ebay who is liquidating some music items from a collector. They had a lot of 5 wah pedals for sale that were untested. I bought them for $175. Some are way on the low end. One is a Dunlop JH-1. The other Dunlop is likely a Crybaby Fasel. I figured that wahs are pretty simple and if they don't work I could likely fix them. Maybe I keep one and sell the rest and still come out ahead? I don't know. They arrive next week. Should be fun.

I look forward to the comparison! My favorite wah was an early 80s regular Crybaby, even if I had to replace the pot every few years. It eventually died on me for good, replaced by a more recent mini version.

I had a couple in the 80s but once I went to Morley, the sweep seemed too shallow for me. Lately, I have been using the wah in the H90, which is super customizable and flexible.

Using a black-label early Budda at the moment.
Closest thing to Jimi I have found.
It has all the spurious noises of a classic 60’s Wah.
I can live with it ‘cos it is absolutely evil in the forward position when you’re on the neck pick-up around the 12th fret.

Vox 847 was ok, and got me through for a while. But no real drama.
Always fancied hearing a Clyde McCoy, but I’m not so much into it these days.
I just like that neck pick-up thing now and again.

I experimented with Voltage Controlled Filters 25 years ago, and got some really insane stuff going on, off one exp pedal.
Even better when a Digitech rack would follow the CC messages at the same time.
Guess I’m an old hippy at heart.
Amazing how an echo repeat can sound with a slow flange and a Wah.
Check this guy out…
Real inspiration for me at the time. I heard it on my first trip! Audience going wild at 8.30. Still sends shivers up my back.
