I know that a 250K will taper some highs and output so if i need more treble bite/output
from a pretty warm pup will the 1 meg do this?
I do not use any tone pots just a 500K vol pot but still want a little more "humbucking bite" from a air zone

Short answer: Yes, it will.

You'll have more overall output as well, since there is less load on the signal. (I think that's why - don't quote me).

Another way to do this would be to do something I did to my Carvin Carve Top... I have traditional volume and tone knobs, but I installed a direct-thru switch that bypasses the pots completely and routes the signal straight from the pickup switch to the output jack. The difference between using the pots (even all the way up) and bypassing them with the switch is HUGE - especially clean.

It's also cool because I can dial in a nice low-gain tone using my guitar's controls and flip the switch to full-on facemelter instantly, back and forth.

You can go no load and use no load pots for maximum output.

these?
http://www.amazon.com/Fender-No-Load-250K-Split-Shaft/dp/B000P0SSMM

these are a tone pot but can they be used as a volume also?
I need full tilt on ten and then whhen i back off to 7 or 8 want a nice warm clean tone.
the thing that i worry aboout with no load(or no resistance) is that it will be too
harsh in the highs and maybe in the case of a air zone too high in output?
with the 1 meg i hear you still have some taper,
or some highs/output still trimmed just not as much as the 500K i use now?

You can tame highs with caps, warmer strings, heavier strings tweaking your amp. I personally would not go no load as I like the 500k taper. It can be too bright as in my Quarter Pounders on my P Bass. I went to nickel strings and it is much warmer.
