I haven't bought a guitar in about 7 years, but I finally convinced my fiancee that we've saved enough for me to get myself a birthday present. I went to my local Sam Ash today intending to try out some Les Paul style guitars and some shred sticks. I didn't intend to walk out with anything. I tried out a Charvel Desolation, a couple PRS SE's and a Gibson SGJ. After being quite underwhelmed I decided to check out the Teles. Not really my thing, I've always considered myself a humbucker player. Needless to say 10 minutes later I walked out with a MIM Paisley Telecaster. Sounds beautiful and resonant, intonation is good all the way up. It kills my Epiphone Les Paul. Really changed my mind about Fenders and bolt-ons.
The stock pickups sound quite nice but I need some Duncans. I'm considering a hot Tele Lead Stack for the bridge.
