Killer deal on Killer Ant

Re: Killer deal on Killer Ant

Does it take dirt pedals well?
Yes indeed...it does very well. The only one I've had problems with is the my mesa v-twin since it works (IMHO) better over a clean channel and the KA breaks up quite quickly.

I don't feel like this is such a killer deal though... I got mine for that price on ebay about a year ago...

Re: Killer deal on Killer Ant

I have had mine a while. I think mine was $179. It is not a clean channel amp at more than conversation levels. Boost it and it get dirty. It is intended to get a tube distortion tone at low volume. I would say if want a clean channel there is not much more than a talking volume. Blues breaking to classic rock is its target and it does this pretty well.

Sounds ideal for me, can't wait to get it! What speakers are you running yours through?

Re: Killer deal on Killer Ant

I'm running mine through a Eminence wizard...amazing crunch out of that thing... not from the speaker of course.

I use it with a 1x12 closed and Blue Dog, 1x12 semi closed with a C-Rex, 2x12 with V30's, 2x12 with V12 Legends, 1x12 open with c12n (reissue), 2x12 closed played as 2 1x12's (Swamp Thang and Texas Heat) and 1x12 closed with a Carving of some type.

Re: Killer deal on Killer Ant

So I'm checking out the Blackheart cabinets and the 110 claims it's voiced for British, while the 112 is voiced for American. Can someone explain what "voicing" means?

Re: Killer deal on Killer Ant

There is a degree of variation within the discussion you would want to note, but the Emi Patriot and Red Coat info at their site might help. To me it has to to with how they handle mids. Fender/American more scooped with British/Marshall more emphasis.

Re: Killer deal on Killer Ant

I checked out the sound clips on the Eminence site, very cool. I really like the Wizard and Governor. Thanks for the tip!
