Kinky

Sounds excellent. And if you say you used a Kemper, we're coming for your kitchen. ;-)

Thanks!! Yeah, it's my Kemper... lol. It's just so easy to record with. Honestly, I don't even think that I've played through any of my stacks in about 8 years or so.

Very nice!!
The bass sounds HUGE!!
Did you use the Kemper for that too?

Thank you very much!! I really liked that bass tone too. It's actually what I'm the happiest about in that whole recording....lol. That's actually my Line 6 Bass POD that I think I bought back in 1999 or whenever they first came out. I used the Brit Class A which is modeled after a 1965 Vox AC-100. I used my Spector Legend 4 Classic, and just dimed the bass, mid, and treble. I put the built in compressor at about 2 o'clock and the drive at about 11. Other than that, I used my Waves CLA bass plugin to add just a little more grit, high end, and some sub frequencies. I think I'm going to stick with that bass tone for a while on my recordings....lol.

Here's just a bass mix:

Wow…. That bass sounds KILLER!!
In the part where the bass is playing the staccato lines, the silence is deafening. If that makes sense. The difference in hearing it vs not hearing it is just tremendous. It’s very powerful. I love it.

Yeah, when it kicks in and drives it really makes a difference. Now that you've pointed that out to me, It kind of reminds me of how a lot of the bass playing is on the Electric album by The Cult.

Yeah, that’s true now that you mention it.
That whole album if full of those type of riffs. One of my favorites from them.
They use space (silence) masterfully on that album.

That is Kinky! I’m so dumb, it took me until now to realise this because I just never thought far into it enough to connect the dots that it goes “girl, you really got me going” because they’re The Kinks! Their name is literal. “All day and all of the night”, all their songs literally are literally about their kinks….

My understanding is The Kinks name came from a salacious gossip report back in the mid-sixties that a member of the royal family or lords had a 'dungeon' in their estate for bondage and discipline play. A bunch of media/entertainment capitalized on it at the time; like Emma Peel's black leather outfit in the Avengers, skits in various comedy shows, the slang "slap and tickle" was coined from it, and The Kinks naming themselves after it.

Hah! Thanks for cluing me in. That’s wild hahaha

You need to make that into a whole song!

And just for fun...do an authentic 60's throw back version of it. What would that sound like with a Vox AC 30????

Ha!! That would probably be a lot of fun to do.

:haha:
I remember always hearing about that.

Right? It’s legendary! If you did make full songs and did an EP or album or something, that would be awesome. Or another SDUGF collab CD could be really cool now! Or a soundcloud or we could all chip in to have it put on streaming platforms?

Speaking of The Kinks, I can’t believe what I’m reading online and hearing from YouTubers… they actually think You Really Got Me and All Day and All Of the Night are the same song! Literally, not similar but they think the latter is an alternative title to the former! What??

There’s no excuse not to look it up and know the difference. Even I knew pre-wikipedia, pre internet knowledge because All Day was on a compilation soundtrack album of a popula british TV show we had on the air called Heartbeat.

To me, those Kinks songs are timeless. There’s no mistaking that’s a whole band in a room giving it what for. I especially love the way you can hear just how hard he gives those two chords on ‘Got Me what for!
