Klon and fuzz issues

Ok I just built a Klon Klone (BYOC Silver Pony) and my plan was to use it as a boost pedal to replace my EH LPB-1. I set up my board and everything sounds good except... my Ampeg Scrambler. I had previous kept the boost last in the dirt chain as I wanted it to make that stuff louder. However the Klone sounds like poo after the fuzz. I swapped them around but that kind of defeats the purpose of the solo boost aspect because with the Scrambler following the Klone now all it does is increase the clipping of the fuzz rather than make it louder.

As an experiment I grabbed the LPB-1 and stuck it on the end of the chain. Yep, sounds good and just made things louder without altering the tone.

Any suggestions? It's looking like the Klon might be a bust.

What are your gain and treble settings at for the Silver Pony?

Re: Klon and fuzz issues

Did you build it with a buffer or true bypass? If buffer, does it sound bad with the pedal both on and off?

Some fuzzes are particular about their input and output impedances. I was messing with all my Fuzz Face pedals and with an EP Boost turned on after the fuzz (rather than straight into the amp) the fuzz got brighter. Not necessarily worse, but different. There's a reason opamp based overdrives and distortions got so popular, they are much less dependent on the input and output impedances they interact with.

I'll try my fuzzes with my Archer, I'm curious for the results.
