Re: Korg Ampworks

I've never tried it, but it night be good. Korg does the software and modeling algorithims for the Vox Valvetronix, right?

Re: Korg Ampworks

I've got one. It's got some cool tones in it. I've used mine quite a bit for recording.
Beware that it's not something to really use in a live situation, unless your super careful. It's made of plastic and it's not something that can take much abuse. btw, the link above has it for a decent price. I paid about $30 more for mine locally.

Re: Korg Ampworks

I just bought a Korg PXR4 Pandora and am really happy with the sounds in it. I don't have much experience with it as I've only had it for a few days, but so far the emulation quality is much better than I expected.

Since both the Pandora and Ampworks are part of the Toneworks series of products, I asume they use the same emulation technology, and if they do, then that Ampworks thing would be great for basic recording.

Re: Korg Ampworks

I had a pandora for a few years - mostly as a practice tool, I had to use it once at a gig when my amp fried a power tube, no time to dig for a replacement, I was using the pandora as a tuner, I plugged it in, set it on the blues channel I set up - used my OD808 for a little more drive and boost on solos and played the rest of the gig through the PA - sounded pretty darn good. I imagine the little ampworks will do a similar job.
