Korg Pitchblack

Anyone here use a Korg Pitchblack pedal tuner? How does it compare to a Boss TU-2? (Other than being less expensive)

I have two pedal boards (one for my guitar one for my bass) and I have the Boss tuner. I don't want to move it back and forth so I would like to get another tuner. The Korg looks good and I thought I would try it - unless someone here as a bad experience to report.

Thanks

Re: Korg Pitchblack

the pitchblack is as slick as they come man...I LOVE MINE!!!

the display is fantastic and it's a small pedal footprint...i really don't know how i've lived without it this long!!!

Re: Korg Pitchblack

I just bought a Pitchblack yesterday. It's a great tuner. It's got 4 different displays, including 2 different strobe settings. Like Hoss said, the footprint is better than both the Boss TU and Hardwire, unless you get the 2 guitar version of the Pitchblack. It's considerably wider.

I researched what tuner I wanted, and the one thing that kept coming up was the display. I now know why. Everything lights up big and bold.

It's accurate to +/- 1 cent. The fact that it's $10-15 cheaper made it a no-brainer.

It's in a sturdy metal casing, and the switching is very quiet, as well.

I have had both. As HG says, it's much more accurate, and it locks onto the note a tad bit faster.

Anyone see the Sonic Research Turbo Tuner?

I have seen the Sonic Research tuner, but I opted for the Pitchblack. It has been on my board for about 6 months now and has seen PLENTY of use both on stage and off.

I do not know how it compares to the Sonic Research pedal, but, IMHO, it blows away the TU2. Mainly due to the fact that, with the TU2, I always found myself haveing to re-tune the strings by ear even after using the TU2. It's not very accurate. And it's not true bypass so you have to use an AB box to get it out of your chain.

None such problems with the Pitchblack. Extremely accurate for a pedal tuner and true bypass.

Not as accurate as tuning with a Strobe tuner, so, if 100% complete and total accuracy is your goal, I say look into the Sonic Research pedal.

But, for on stage use and general tuning situations, the pitchblack rules.

if you want the best for your money, get the turbo tuner. I've had mine for a while, and it's the best 129 i've spent. A true strobe, unlike the peterson. Better quality, unlike the peterson. Faster tracking, unlike the peterson. I assume you've read all the details on the homepage? It has a few very neat features. It really is a great tuner.

Same here-I've heard the pitchblack is awesome, and I really don't think you'd be disappointed. Vs. the turbo, some feel that a daytime gig is easier to see with a korg vs. turbo. I don't know personally...

For me, the compact size, features and accuracy of the Turbo are more than I need. It works great as a mute switch while gigging. The only gripe I have and I don't know if this is the same for the other tuners mentioned, is that it's a silent tuner in that you don't hear it while tuning. In the end, it doesn't matter-quick perfect tuning all the time!

the Pitchblack seems to be quickly becomming the industry standard. The Planet Waves Tuner pedal is getting good reviews too.
