Ok

So ,I'm looking for somethig along the lines of a mini portable jamming tool, home bedroom level practise tool and mini recorder for recording ideas on the fly convieniently by simply pluggin in the geetar and letting rip. Wow, what a long sentence, how an ever.
I mention the Korg and Zoom only because they are the only units that can do what i'm looking for that I Know Of, so if there are any other units available like these please do share also.

I've gone over TwilightOdyssey's revied of the PXR4 https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=20531&highlight=pxr4
and I must say his review makes it sound like it could be a very nice piece of kit.
But i've noticed for an extra €50 or so I could get the ZOOM PS-04.
It seems to be loaded with a good bit more functions (e.g more effects of all types for all needs, effects structure seems more elaborate,10 virtual track as opposed to 8 etc...)
I know vicariously that the Korg will sound pretty good as i've played the Valvetronix and loved the tones that were to be got from them, But if the ZOOM's amp sims and effects sound anything like that on their foot pedals I know i want to stay well well clear of it.

So i guess in short, how does the amp sims on the Zoom compare to the Korg?

Cheers

Can can I ask if any of you guys have had experience with the KORG D4 http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?a_prod_no=D4&category_id=3
looks as tho it is just a bigger easier to use version of the PXR4 with a 2GB max flash card capacity. But does it have the same ability a the PXR4 to use as a guitar amp moddler for home practise etc. effects etc. as the PXR4?

Thanks again guys

Re: Korg PXR4 vs ZOOM PS-04

I had an older PXR-4 (without USB) and found the controls a little daunting so I sold it. I have been missing the ability to mae fun recordings so I sold my PX-4 and am looking at the Korg D4; it seems like a better control layout, has an XLR (the Zoom doesnt), and has a USB to dump to PC - so I dont have to worry as much about memory size (although 1G CF cards are now around $70). And, I didnt like the modeling on the PS-02 I had either! Now I just have to scrape the cash together or find a good deal on Ebay...

Also, I finally bit the bullet and traded some gear for a ToneLab - I have to agree that it is probably the best modeler - but the Korg is "close enough" and I dont like the size of the ToneLab and not being able to record - so I think I am going to trade it in and get the D4 this weekend...

Wow, that is too much typing before I have coffee...:24:

Lol!

Thanks for your input bro!
The controls on the D4 Do look alot more convienient than the ones (or lack of, due to size) on the PXR4.And i'm the kind of person that would get very discouraged if i had to constantly be flicking through menus for coping and pasting and bouncing tracks, the D4 seems to have seperate physical buttons for that.

That said TO seems to have thought the PXR4 was one of the best designed menu systems there is for a product this compact.

If I am going to order it, it will probobly be early next week so If ya pick one up over the weekend please give us your first impressions!! :)

Cheers

Off topic, but line6 guitarport gives you anythign you could possible want to jam off of a PC and add a cheap ASIO recording package (traction is simple and cheep) and you've got a studio in one hand-

Maybe not where you want to go, but often more fun for me than my full rig- Takes 1 boot and everything i need is in hand-

Thanks for the suggestion, but i'm really looking for a very portable 4 tracker with amp and cab moddeling.
and i don't think my PC supports ASIO either :smack:

Okie Dokey!

So i got the KORG D4 yesterday and I must say i'm extremely happy with it!

The moddeling on it is great! and it's a very easy to use unit.
I might post a clip or two later in the week in the T'n'C room to give y'all an idea what it sounds like.
