Korina Jr.

In coming. Should be hear by Tuesday. The pickup that is installed is from the Seymour Duncan custom shop a 78EVH made to fit on a p-90 plate complete with custom made dog ear cover, so there is no extra routing. You can pull the tone control up and its like bypassing the control and you are going direct to the jack. Hand crafted by Kurt Wilson

So simple an idea, glad to see that this is possible - hope it turns out the way you hoped, and gives some of us a reason not to dismiss a guitar because of the P-90 mounting.

Yes I thought it was a good idea. I was looking for a P-90 guitar. I like them. I came across this guitar and talked to the owner. He has a music store in NJ. Im in Pa. He said if he would put a P-90 on if I wanted one. Told me if I dont like the pickup to send it back and he will send me a P-90.

Im going to keep it like it is for a while. I got a good feeling im going to like the guitar like it is. Hope to have it by Tuesday.I may buy a p-90 to put it in every once in a while.

Re: Korina Jr.

The guitar just came today and im very happy with it thus far. Jumbo style frets, and very resonant. Its my first Korina guitar.

Re: Korina Jr.

I was concerned at first that I was not going to like the pickup based on other humbucker guitars I played through the amp. I really like the sound of a mean P-90 just cranking the amp and using the volume control on the guitar to go from clean to mean.

Well what a surprise I was in for, im keeping it just the way it is. It would be great if I could get some info on what goes into making the EVH78 pickup. Should I ask about it in the pickup section of the forum? I guess I really dont need to know . As far as I know im the only one who has one wound onto a P-90 base. The store owner said he knows Seymour from back in the early 80s. I was not sure if I believed him or not. I really like the pickup. It cleans up nice and works well with the tone control. It sounds good even when you roll the tone off.

Ive been playing a long time. The tone im getting is one that ive always liked. The best part is I just have to plug straight into a cranked tweed. I have a lovepedal purpleplexi 100 and when I tried that it sounded great too.

Re: Korina Jr.

I have heard Kurt builds great guitars. Might have to look into one someday soon. Sounds like you have a great guitar on your hands.

I had never heard of him before I saw this guitar. I did a few searches online and saw some good things about him. I found his facebook page and checked it out too. (He makes a cool looking korina explorer style he calls explorer Jr. has one P-90)The guitar is well built. Im happy with it. I talked to the guy who had it. He owns a guitar store. He told me about the pickup and how it worked with the guitar. EVH used a paf back then and thats what the pickup is based from. It pretty cool. The sum of all the parts work well together. Just a good pickup, nice korina wood, and a wrap around tail piece that you can set the intonation well. Basic 50s Jr. style guitar. Mine was made in the year 2000. Used it was alot cheaper than any korina Gibson I saw so I was just happy I could get a korina guitar at a price I could afford.

BTW I dont think Wilson made the guitar with the Duncan pickup. The guy I bought it from said he had the pickup made for the guitar.

That pickup may be the coolest Custom Shop pickup I've seen on this forum. Keep that guitar! It's cool as it gets.
