Kramer Focus 3000 question

Re: Kramer Focus 3000 question

I'm thinking it wouldn't have been ply. Check out this page from the Vintage Kramer site:

Also, I used to have a Focus 1000, and the inside parts that I saw surely didn't look like plywood, for what it's worth.

Re: Kramer Focus 3000 question

Focus 3000 is soild wood... the striker series is the plywood ones from the late 80's

Cha-ching!

Focus models were also Japanese made by ESP and early on it was Matsumoku or however its spelt. Striker, Aerostar etc from the 80's were the ones to stay away from.

Re: Kramer Focus 3000 question

I thought it was the Strikers that were ply, but wanted to check. Watching a Focus 3000 on eBay atm...:D

Re: Kramer Focus 3000 question

There is none on there that I found, only one modified with a skull on it thats over priced. All the other Focus were either only bodies or the cheap Music Yo Kramer versions of recent years

Re: Kramer Focus 3000 question

Ahh wait blue one on UK site? Yea looks nice, but stay below $350... maybe $400 for European prices but after that you might as well get a USA model.

Re: Kramer Focus 3000 question

Ask about the weight. If it is heavier than a comparable alder or basswood body it might be plywood.

Re: Kramer Focus 3000 question

I had a mint 3000 with a floyd and CC in the bridge, but never really like the feel and the tone as much with distortion. Prb the floyd killed the tone and then maybe the muli piece body? Set neck mahogany guitars i like best. Would like to try a real usa strat on my amp sometime though. Im sure the old Pacers would rock nicely!

Re: Kramer Focus 3000 question

that Kramer on EBAY looks just like the one i bought in 1987... except mine was the plywood Striker... the focus series was a better guitar with better hardware for sure

An Original Floyd Rose, non-recessed, non-floating? That in itself kills very little in the way of tone. I've played too many monster-sounding guitars with this setup to jump on that bandwagon.

Re: Kramer Focus 3000 question

I had a focus 1000 body in my old kramer mutt (striker neck, rest of the bits from assorted places). It was a solid bit of maple, from what I could tell, so reasonably heavy and quite a bright, loud tone.
As already mentioned the Focus was MIJ, strikers were MIK (I believe) and ply.
They were top guitars for the money, back in the day.

even my Striker was not cheap... i had found the sales slip a few years ago mixed in with some files and it said i paid $479 for it plus taxes and a case it was over $500... keep in mind i made $3.65 an hour after school in those days... it took me a few years to save for that guitar and a Marshall Combo!
